Things To Consider Before Buying Your Tarp

With the wide variety of uses for tarps, many home have decided to purchase their very own. Whether you use it for Sunday lunches with the family or keeping your expensive vehicle safe from harsh weather conditions, a tarp is always a valuable item to have.

Below are a few things that you should consider before purchasing your tarp.

Is The Tarp Reinforced?

A tarp can have additional reinforcement to help prevent any tearing or ripping. There are four main types of tarp reinforcement.

Corner reinforcement – The higher the quality of tarp you are looking at the more chances that there will be reinforcement on its corners. This type of reinforcement dramatically lengthens the life of your tarp.

Perimeter Rope – This is a rope that has been sewn inside the hem. This adds more reinforcement to your tarp.

The Hem – The hem is created by folding the edge of the tarp back onto the tarp and then stitch the entire hemmed area.

Has It Been UV Treated?

A chemical treatment takes place so that the tarp is protected from the harsh UV rays of the sun. This will give your tarp a much longer lifespan.

Is The Tarp Flame Retardant?

There is no tarp that is 100% flame-proof, so try to keep the material away from open flames and heat sources. You can however get flame retardant tarps. These tarps are designed to repel flames and prevent themselves from catching alight.
